True. Requiring a 2.5 GPA would have ruled me out for the first 8 years of my college education.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

The evil, money-grubbing, poor-hating right-wingers will be in here soon enough to compare Obama's plan to Nazi Germany, so let's clear up something right away before they do: no matter what, someone is paying for education. Whether it's you directly, the university, or the taxpayers, someone is forking over the money. The pertinent question with regards to education is deciding who should be doing the paying, not whether or not it should be paid for.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

A trillion to pay the students, or a trillion to kill Iraqis - I think the answer is clear, killing Arabs is the obvious priority, unless you are a communist.Socrates: "Good is That at which all things aim, If one knows what the good is, one will always do what is good." Brian: "Romanes eunt domus"

Can't we pay by playing the guitar and singing instead?
Beware! Obama has just adopted the greek system! (I kid you not, it's something similar. Limited positions in unies, the ones with the best grades enter, "free")
So if you bust your balls reading and become a geek, you have good chances entering uni.
Where this system aches is what happens AFTER you've entered. Noone can kick you out. You can be a 60 year old student that simply doesn't pass his exams or doesn't go to class (that changed). (thanks... developments I guess)
Other systems in europe: you enter, "free", if you get the bac. It's a degree in the last year of highschool, that pretty much opens the door to every university BUT, you have to pass all your exams each year and after three strikes you're out.

No one should be held back from achieving their potential due to an inability to pay for their education.
Currently in the US, and increasingly in the UK, access to further education is essentially an elitist pastime."Aha, you must have supported the Iraq war and wear underpants made out of firearms, just like every other American!" Loinburger

Also, yet another example why Greece is the basket case of Europe. Obviously free education shouldn't be open to abuse."Aha, you must have supported the Iraq war and wear underpants made out of firearms, just like every other American!" Loinburger

The rational I think, was that maybe students would need to work while studying to support themselves, so... the system wasn't too strict.
This has never been the case for a long time though. (they don't need to)
The system stayed the old way though, untill that changed recently.
But that's where it stopsLast edited by Bereta_Eder; January 9, 2015, 09:33.
