Providing universal health coverage is ****ing stupid because:
a) it is perfectly legitimate not to get health insurance; the only reason it's crippling is because of laws designed to force people to get insurance such as allowing monopoly pricing schemes on drugs and doctor visits plus tax exemption of insurance but not medical expenses in general
b) there is no reason the government should pay for your **** if you can already pay for it yourself.
Universal healthcare is just so unbelievably retarded even on cursory inspection.

a) Everyone gets sick and sometimes require hugely expensive treatment. If people do not have the capacity to pay for that treatment, the alternatives become either to let that person suffer and possible die or for the people who do have the resources to end up paying for the other peoples treatment. This can also be described as 'a free ride', which is kind of ironic considering the kind of people who traditionally oppose universal healthcare.
b) Government doesn't pay for anything, taxpayers pay for universal healthcare. In doing so they receive extremely preferential rates for a service they need due to bulk pricing negotiation and large scale infrastructure. Paying individually for healthcare is not only incredibly cost inefficient but also mindnumbingly stupid.
c) The best universal healthcare systems also allow private providers to operate alongside them. This not only reduces the overall burden on the system but also allows rich people to have their private rooms and perks.
d) Anyone who thinks the best way to increase treatment outcomes is to force patients to fill out endless forms, have their treatment costs queried by a private company desperate to save money and to require people to pay deductibles is basically a ****ing moron.

a.
