I doubt very much I or the video I posted upset Elok. My guess is he largely ignored it because he hasn't really done atheist vs. theist debates on Poly in years.

**** you, you're no better than the mother****ing rapist

Here's a question I've meant to ask and it seems this is the appropriate thread:
being in a distinct distance from anything ressambling protestantism, I have also heard the repulsive idea of "work ethic" (repulsive because it insinuates you actually have to work of course, never mind the rest. And one has to be true to his country's ancient traditions and never work but let others work but that's another matter).
Anyway, and I was thinking, does this work ethic thingy steems from yet another protestant maladaptation of reality which says that only a select few will enter the heavens and those would be the ones that would manage to "rise" to the top and make lots of money and sh!t and that's why they work their poor asses to the bone?
Or is this totally unrelated?
In buddha orthodoxy I don't think you need to work hard. Just have your mojo on and be a good person. You can basically get to heaven simple by stratching your balls all day long assuming you live correctly.
The origin of this thought steems from a rather amuzing quarel I once witnessed between a devout catholic and a protestant dude about this very subject.
It was funny because the arguments and counter arguments went all the way from the capella sistina painting to the moon landing expedition.

Tim Minchin doesn't have a song about this subject so I have no opinion on the matter.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.

On a side note, I recently noticed that the fighter pilot academy in Greece is called "Icarus School" and the patron saint is Archangel Michael.
It's these small touches of symbolism that make watching the whole edifice crumble to dust a bit more bareable.
That and discovering ancient macedonian tombs seems to be the oeuvre du jour for forgetting how ****ed up the current leadership is.
