Rochester, N.Y. – Three people were hurt following a chemistry lab explosion on the University of Rochester campus Saturday afternoon. Hazmat and emergency crews responded to Hutchison Hall around 2:30 p.m. According to a UR spokesperson, three students were injured when a mix of hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and sulfuric acid caused an explosion in a lab. Their names are Jared Kneebone, Kathlyn Fillman and Malik Al-Afyouni. The three are all graduate students, whose injuries are not considered life-threatening. The explosion happened during the school's homecoming weekend.
