  • Baba Yetu (Civ IV Theme) covered by Malukah and Peter Hollens

Thought this may deserve its own thread (didn´t seem to be fitting for the Civ IV subforum [as the topic isn´t about gameplay], therefore I put it into Offtopic)...
The wonderful and talented Malukah and Peter Hollens (maybe known to many people as well, for his cooperation with Lindsey Sterling) have made a really good cover Version of Civ IVs Theme Song Baba Yetu (IMHO the best Civ IV theme of all) that definitely doesn´t have to shy away from any comparison with the original (by Christopher Tin)

Hope you enjoy it as well as I did
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "He has fallen in battle and I must take him to the Einherjar in Valhalla"

Yeah, saw it a few days ago. Beautiful.
Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.-Isaiah 41:10

      Glorious.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Firaxis has gotten into the habit of using extremely repetitive theme songs to play during the loading of their last 2 Civ games, and the last two Civ games are notable for their very long load times. If their games are going to take several minutes to load then it would be nice if the theme songs were less repetitive. "Baba Yetu" is nice, but not repeated over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over .........................

Funny, it usually load in less than a minute for me. If it doesn't, I usually get up and do something else for a bit while it does.

How old is your computer? Civ IV loads in a matter of seconds for me. Civ V, less than 30.

I've played Civ4 dozens of times; this is the first time I've heard the entire song.

I tend to play games on a huge map and often with multiple mods. That lengthens the load time.

The last time civ was actually fun to play that was the theme song.

BTS was cool, although stealth destroyers were stupid as ****.

I remember that one version of Civ allowed the player to substitute their own music for the music that came with the game. I'd like that again.

As I said, I play huge maps and I use lots of mods.

I also always played huge maps and only rarely had the pleasure of hearing Baba Yetu during loading of a map in full.

On the other hand IIRC I never used another mod than the Future Weapons-Mod that came with BtS
