Alright, this guy took the ice bucket challenge waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy to seriously. A 51 year old Belgian citizen who lives in Spain, and who I guess works as a brush fire pilot who drops water on forest fires, took the ALS ice bucket challenge to its most extreme conclusion.

A 51-year-old Belgian citizen in Girona, Spain, is in coma at the Intensive Care Unit with multiple trauma injuries after a firefighting airplane released 396 gallons (1500 liters) of ice water on top of him (news in Spanish.) The airplane, which was piloted by his friend, was flying 23 feet (seven meters) over the runway when it happened.
According to the police, the victim was recording a video for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. According to the doctors, he may not survive.

I've read some BS about this. Some critics claim that there are ~5000 people with ALS in the US. Well, there are 2500 to 3000 in Canada, with 1/10th the population. Also, the disease takes from ~ 2 years to a very long time to kill you, but diagnosis can happen with as little as two months or so to live. That would sort of lessen the stats of how many people have it at any given time I think.

And yes, I am not an unbiased person on this. My mother died of it in 2003. We are having a service for a very good friend of mine on Sunday. He also died of ALS.
