Fixing the world would not be my top priority if I had the powers of Q.

Which world? There are infinitely many that I can see.

Oh right. There's nothing to fix, just pick one and go.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

What if as in Sliders people could move between Earths in parallel dimensions. I remember that there was at least one episode where an entire population was moved. Suppose you could arrange for the population to "slide" into 4 parallel Earths, or remain here? How would you choose where to put whomever?

Too many questions need to be answered before I can do that. For example: is it a one time only event with no communication between worlds thereafter, or is communication and travel between worlds freer and more efficient than that? If so, how much freer and more efficient?

What is pressuring the population on homeworld?

Is there a clear cataclysm approaching (huge asteroid, etc.)?

              Who actually wants to go?

What are the qualities of the new worlds?

              Etc.

It's a one time event, the only pressure is 7 billion people, no cataclysm, the worlds are identical to ours including man made objects but a person either stays or goes to only one other world. The other 4 parallel worlds wil be unpopulated unless people "slide" over to them from this one. There will be no communication between worlds afterwards. If the population divides evenly each world would have a population of only 1.4 billion people.
