States That Raised Minimum Wage See Faster Job Growth, Report Says
I have no problem with raising the min wage as long as there is an exception for teenagers.
They're the one most likely not to be hired if wages are higher and we need to do everything we can to get them jobs and keep them off the streets and out of trouble.
I'm fine with that especially as something like 2/3rds of minimum wage workers are adults with the average being 32 years of age. I do have to wonder what sort of bad decisions someone had to make in order to be making minimum wage into their 30's but it is what it is.

50.6% of the people that make the minimum wage are ages 16 to 24.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

My source includes people who would be affected by raising the minimum wage to $10.10.
His is only for people earning $7.25 and less.
That's the explanation for the difference.
I don't see how this pedantry contributes to the discussion. Typical DD.
Your implied thesis of "raising the minimum wage only affects teenagers" has been proven false. But you probably already knew that. You're a goddam liar.

I was correcting Oerdin on who minimum wage workers actually are. You apparently had a problem with me giving Oerdin the correct information.

So your source counts people who will only exist if a certain policy is adopted? Groovy.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.
Their average age is 35, and 88 percent are at least 20 years old. Half are older than 30, and about a third are at least 40.
These patterns are somewhat new. In 1979, 27 percent of low-wage workers (those making $10.10 per hour or less in today’s dollars) were teenagers, compared with 12 percent in 2013, according to John Schmitt and Janelle Jones
There are a bunch of other facts i that article as thge NYT really is a real news source unlike what ever nonsense you've been reading. You can literally go back to the 1970's, when the highest percentage of teens were making minimum wage, and still teens only made up 27% of minimum wage workers but it has been dropping ever since. Most of the MW workers are women, they're mostly white (though minorities are over represented), it's about a 50-50 splite between full timers and part timers, 27% have kids, they're less educated than the average worker, and they're in every state but as usual the south is the ****tiest place in the country with disproportional number of them.
Your own source says teens make up 24% not 50.6%. Also it only counts people who make $7.25 and so doesn't count the 34 states with higher minimum wages.
It seems pretty daft to exclude 17/25th's of the states.

The problem is you were completely wrong about it as you 1) used a link from 2013 which used 2012 information (from only 16 states!) as its source. 2) Didn't take into account people in the other 34 states which have minimum wages higher than the fed one. 3) You completely misquoted your own source because it never said teens made up 50.6% and instead said teens made up 24%.
