            I wasn't. The Yale community is so isolated from the poverty around them that it's hard to believe it's really that bad.

              How did NH end up like this? usually elite university towns foster a hightech/ biotech industry around them, that, as they say, floats all boats.

                I don't think it really works for universities. People go where the business opportunities are, and universities are rarely the driving force of successful industry. Boston would still have about as much hightech as it does now, if Harvard was in Raleigh, North Carolina.

                    That's not entirely true. There's a couple of tech companies in Pittsburgh that wouldn't be there if not for CMU, but they are pretty much all small CMU grad startups.
                    If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?
