    Molten brass, 2100 F. Also, it was a "centrifugal casting mold", which sounds like a metal mold that uses spinning to keep the thing being molded hollow. The explosion was later found not to be, but was suggested because a wall got blown out.

    My guess is, a large centrifuge with a mold full of molten bronze probably partly or completely broke free of its moorings, broke a wall, and injured six workers, four of whom went to the hospital and none of whom had life threatening injuries..
