There is no such thing as anarchism. If you think there is, you need to start thinking a little harder. What you get is a power vacuum. A power vacuum immediately filled by whoever has the biggest guns. Suddenly anarchy turns into tyranny in a fraction of a second, when you get warlord dictatorships filling up the void.

Anarchy is inherently not a stable system. In fact, it's so unstable it has never lasted for any appreciable period of time in any place ever. Think about it for a second. Anarchy is the initial state of things. If it could work and were stable, why are there governments at all?If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

I don't agree with c0ckney, but his argument here would be that our environment (in the broad sense in which he was using it) affects human nature in such a way as to make stable anarchy impossible. In one sense, he's right. If we were inundated by easily accessible abundance, then economics as we know it wouldn't need to exist and people could probably get along just fine.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostThere is no such thing as anarchism. Yes, he disapproved of ruling people so much, he decided to put himself up for the position of head of state. I'm sure it was just a charitable impulse on his part.Originally posted by Lorizael View PostI'm not sure this is particularly relevant. Madison was head of state in a system he helped designed to constrain the head of state, and he did not become a dictator.Vive la liberte. Noor Inayat Khan, Dachau.

The state of nature is nonsense. We developed from social primates, and remain social primates. Speaking of human beings without a social structure is like speaking of fish without water.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostAnarchy is the initial state of things.
