Wouldn't someone concerned about his influence in an election want to discourage other people from voting? If you're the only one voting your vote counts for far more.

Or did I just miss the point of that video entirely?
      John Brown did nothing wrong.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Clearly he thinks people who wouldn't vote are statistically likely to vote for the candidates he supports if they do vote.

That's one way of looking at it (certaintly legitimate), there's another:

participating in voting creates accomplishes. The public is an accomplish to whatever the ruling class will do afterwards.

Imagine an abstention of, say, 80%.

80% of a population did not give legitimate authority for whatever will be going on.
Then how can they say that whatever they're doing, they're doing it with a people's mandate? There's no mandate.

Maybe completely abstaining is the way to push for real change.

If you stopped saying "ruling class", you would gain credibility.

Revolutionary women don't believe in personal hygiene because it's part of the the patriarchy.

Accomplice. If 80% don't vote, what are they doing? Protesting? If they just stay home nothing will change.
