[/QUOTE]all u.s. police are not the same just as u.k. police are not the same. police all over the world are called to peoples houses to handle calls that many would consider outside of police jurisdiction. it is well within my imagination that a police officer would make a request upon a citizen on behalf of another citizen.
a police receives numerous calls to solve problems that are not legal matters. as an officer you are trying to solve the problem in the short amount of time you have an move to the next call.
If anyone may be to blame or be held accountable it is the councilor who may have been trying to intimidate the citizen. not the officers.

The only thing wrong with the Police actions IMHO is that they asked for information on the visit not to be disclosed. Unless it was part of an ongoing investigation there is no justification for non-disclosure.

I know I was just being snarky. You do have a lot more cop on civilian shootings than we do though.

I think in the UK many policemen are not even armed.
There's a widespread spirit of co-operation between the citizens and the police. (that envoyable social consensus state of affairs)
At least that's what I've heard. Don't know if it still goes on.

They don't have guns, but most of us still think they're largely a bunch of ****s.

Saw a Sikh policeman yesterday. Very natty dark blue turban.
