It dont matter if its illegal, you just admitted children are subject to possible "social harm" if they dont comply with the Pledge. That makes the request to recite the Pledge coercive. Agents of the state - teachers no less - telling children to stand and pledge their allegiance to the state and it's god. Yippee

Considering phones (and other devices) are basically little revenue generating devices, it would be more of a benefit to the economy to just give them away.

We need to change the wording of the pledge so that it can remain faithful to it's heritage. Something like:

"I pledge allegiance ... and OMG THE FLAG IS RED, better dead! ... one nation, hiding under desks, with black lists and imminent nuclear winter for all."
