I was hoping to start reading Justice John Paul Stevens's new book today but I guess Amazon's two day delivery isn't worth the electrons it is printed on.

Our old friend, Zkribbler, is writing a fantasy/detective book. I don't know how good it is, wait until its done.

Speaking of fantasy/detective genre, I noted an autographed copy of Christopher Moore's new book at my neighborhood bookstore yesterday. I was in a bit of a rush, so I didn't pick it up, but I'll check back today and see if its still available.

A person can go back to the Bible for reference purpose, reflection on something, etc., everyday, but what I mean, is that for the first time in my life, I'm reading the Bible from start to finish.

And I'm sure after reading it, I too will go back to it.

I bought "who fears death" when I was leaving the US. My wife has finished it before me and likes it, it seems good so far (I should get another reading day soon).

In a far future, post-nuclear-holocaust Africa, genocide plagues one region. The aggressors, the Nuru, have decided to follow the Great Book and exterminate the Okeke. But when the only surviving member of a slain Okeke village is brutally raped, she manages to escape, wandering farther into the desert. She gives birth to a baby girl with hair and skin the color of sand and instinctively knows that her daughter is different. She names her daughter Onyesonwu, which means "Who Fears Death?" in an ancient African tongue.

Reared under the tutelage of a mysterious and traditional shaman, Onyesonwu discovers her magical destiny-to end the genocide of her people. The journey to fulfill her destiny will force her to grapple with nature, tradition, history, true love, the spiritual mysteries of her culture-and eventually death itself.
