Robert Graves described the fearsome germanic weapons of the Roman Emperor's mercenary guards as "assegai" in his I Claudius series.

I've never been able to get to the bottom of whether that was a misquote. It seems to be Zulu.

Bugs, when you have daughters that age, I believe it's generally supposed to be you who poses with the weapons. I only have two boys, and that may well be it, but if the wife ever pops out I girl I'm'a buy me a claymore. Or maybe a rhomphaia, that's the Orthodox version. Then again, I'm part Scottish, so maybe a claymore's okay too.

I feel no particular urge to be an armed guard on my offspring's chastity.

I always understood the subtext to be more of a general "play nice, boy" thing.

              That's pretty cool.

Question though, is the "Super Warriors" shirt intended to amplify the intimidation factor?
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Shield Maiden Bugs is a Celt or Pict.

His daughter is innately fearsome and needs no protection. But nice of her to warn mortals.

                My sons too are terrifying.
