  • Wriggling steel

Some would probably think that a steel vessel would be stable and rather stiff. That isn't exactly true.

First half are just some scenery footage from the bridge, while the last half could scare some.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

How much do skyscrapers bend in the wind (or earthquakes). I am not surprised that they are designed to be flexible.

Depending on the size, design and wind speed, usually between 1 foot to 3 or 4 feet.
I heard the Hancock building in Chicago was 18 inches.
The CN tower in Toronto was about 3.5 feet (http://www.straightdope.com/columns/...ay-in-the-wind)

Watching an airplane wing flex is a lot more interesting.

Unless you're playing pool on an upper floor with a free hanging chandelier lamp above the table.

From my visit there, I was told it had a shedload of design flaws and was liable to collapse under a particular wind load without the retrofitting costing more than the original construction.

Well I believe it was the first building that tall with just exterior support. I expect they learned a lot from it.

My father was one of the first tenants.
Many years later my brother worked there.
And now my daughter works there.

I hear they build expansion joints into these ships as if they didn't bend they would crack.
