AC2 is doing nearly twice the number of member visits as before the BE announcement. Haven't had anything new of BE news in a couple of days, but two newb mod projects inspired by are pulling a lot of attention. The internet doesn't care about your roof, Aeson; NOW is the time to be moving to take advantage.

That last was just taunting, wasn't it?

The initial rush is nice if you're positioned, but it'll die off rather quickly too. As release gets closer it will build up again. I'd much rather be able to focus on the game leading up to it's release than in trying to capture the initial rush that's already been decided.

In any case, the roof is far more important. In regards to CivBE too. If I get it finished before rainy season then I can spend a few months indoors working in my second floor office where we have much better cell signal (and internet speed). If I don't, then I spend a few months in the mud trying to do things that would be 10 times easier if it was dry, and no good place to really work on internet stuff anyways.

What's that phrase? Net present value. Sometimes you have to look after home so that later you can look after dollars, and sometimes the reverse.

[shrugs] There's some weird feedback loop between my energy/mood and the activity levels - no way this is going to last six months, but we were due/had already begun an upswing in the cycle anyway, and every activity surge has fallen back to a higher rest state than before, so far, leading to each surge being bigger than the last. Sometime in the fall is roughly time for another quiet period to end, anyway, and member excitement will take care of itself as the BE release approaches/happens, besides. One of my guys is presently back from an activity coma and organizing like mad, so only good will come of that.

I'm playing it by ear as I go, with only a broad strategy - I have to, because administrating a forum is like herding cats. It's working out so far.

Pretty much the same. What you see is what you get. Though, I consider most of what I do to be "ball busting" more than insulting. I'm quite capable of discussing things without the colorful comments. But for a CivBE/AC themed site, there wouldn't be much for me to say. My reaction to what has been shown to us (regarding CivBE) only takes a few short posts to express. I can only react to what is in front of me. And aside from the big reveal, there's not much for me to react to.
