Status updates on Facebook raise my rage meter to max. I only check one every few days... if that.

There is one thing that the use of social media has taught me. Just about everyone believes in stupid ****, and people are not shy about making their idiocy known. In the past, the only people I talked to online were nerds... because that's who went online. It was easy to dismiss idiocy because it came from supposedly socially-challenged people who did not otherwise have an outlet to express themselves.

But what I've learned is, everyone is an idiot, not just nerds.. People generally are socially-challenged nincompoops whose opinions are garbage. Nerds get a bad rap, unfairly.

TLDR: Everyone is stupid.

That's been frustrating. The last time I googled, I couldn't find a single item with anything new in it.

I'm beginning to conclude that the Firaxis/2K promotional/PR people aren't very good. I know I would like to know more, but they don't seem to be dribbling new info out to keep interest hopping. Maybe it doesn't matter that they can't be bothered to cultivate promotional venues like AC2 or here.

Ah well; I'm sure we'll be drowned in it in a few months. Meanwhile, getting our houses in order...

I remember in the months leading up to Civ3, the people at Firaxis (one of them was named... Dan) were releasing new content every Friday. It was usually a civ, and we'd find out what that civ's UU was going to be and such. Ah, good times. I don't remember precisely when they started doing that, though.

Apparently CivBE is still pre-alpha, so my guess is there's a lot of art and details that haven't been worked out yet. Pre-alpha with a launch in fall seems a little odd, though. But maybe I just don't have a good sense of the software development cycle

I dislike, very much, the practice of releasing extra Civs in the form of DLC.

In ten minutes, with notepad, I can create a custom Civ. They are basically charging for content that users can easily make.

If they want to combine them into a large Civ pack, that would be better... or just put them in other DLC's.

The game just feels incomplete without all the official Civs. And I'm not going to be nickle and dimed into spending $100 on a Civ game.

They're failing to give us something to work with a little at a time to keep the promotion going - that's bad for them and bad for us.

And if it's not even in beta yet, I really have my doubts about them pulling off a good game at all, certainly not on schedule...
