I pay US self-employment and income taxes as all my money is earned on US soil. In the PI I am a tourist, and not allowed to be gainfully employed. I pay the VAT over here, property taxes, visa fees, and various other fees/registrations. I have to exit the country for at least a day every 16 months (or 20 months if I really want the hassle of the extra paperwork).Originally posted by pchang View Post

For you, yes. Expats who are allowed to earn money in their country of residence are not treated well by US tax authorities. Thankfully I've never had a problem with US tax authorities. Or maybe I should say sadly ... since the most likely reason for that is my income has been very low.
