The Altera Centauri collection has been brought up to date by Darsnan. It comprises every decent scenario he's been able to find anywhere on the web, going back over 20 years.
25 themes/skins/styles are now available to members. Check the select drop-down at the bottom-left of each page.
Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
I agree on subforums. The Sports Forum is the only one that gets enough traffic to warrant keeping separate and that might be better as it's own main forum anyways. (Whatever the participants in the Sports Forum prefer.) Several of the on-topic forums should be merged.
Yep... sprawling forums with few posts just makes it look like a vast wasteland that no one participates in. Less forums with more posts per forum makes it look more vibrant.
Yes, it may be style over substance, but if it can work for Civ V...
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
From reading more user reviews of vB5, this would be covered by the upgrade. We'd then have a slow, plodding, largely non-functional behemoth of a forum that can easily be destroyed by any upstart faction.
I would like to kick around a few ideas and see what people think would make poly more fun and more active.
Does anyone else have any more ideas?
Why don't you just go watch the Food Channel?
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.
"Hating America is something best left to Mobius. He is an expert Yank hater.
He also hates Texans and Australians, he does diversify." ~ Braindead
This is a good idea. Maybe something in the Total War franchise or something?
Or just go Paradox, given that they have dozens of popular games that are generally compex enough to spawl hundreds of topics. PLus the official forums have a reputation for being a bit dickish.
It's not as if you thank people for their excellent ideas when they aren't soliciting.

I'd like to seem more of the old creative photo shopping threads.
The movie poster thread was great.
The OT election thread with all the election posters was another good thread.
Those threads had the one up type of competition without the hatred and meanness that many of the ben threads seem to provoke.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Paradox is a good idea as they do have a constant flow of new games plus the official forums are so highly censored as to be ridiculous.
Another thing which would make poly better, which I have seen in other forums so I assume is a commonly available plug-in, is having it so when you click on a thread it automatically goes to the first new post in the thread. That would save my scrolling finger and, as everyone knows, I'm an extremely lazy person, this would be a good thing.
Yeah, maybe we need to appeal to other games in a similar vein than Civ. Do we already, I can't remember as I can't remember being anywhere on poly other than the OT for the last decade or so...
We even used to have a Paradox forum here at Poly.
