  • GOP freaked out the tea party could cost them the House in 2014

Before you freak out and say "Salon?" remember that this story is all over the press right now as the GOP civil war is raging. The GOP has lost a lot of races which, by all accounts they should have won and this is because they ran crazy candidates which scared the **** out of voters as soon as the nutters opened their big mouths thus the GOP establishment is trying to control the crazies before it costs them the house.

    http://www.salon.com/2014/01/21/gop_...ction_partner/

The Republican Party is mired in a civil war, and the mainstream is desperately trying to prevent crazy candidates winning primary races over mainstream candidates, then have the crazy candidates say crazy things about rape, religion, sex and race.

Karl Rove's American Crossroads is the group that is freaking out, and is desperately trying to help moderate, mainstream, sane (many of them incumbents) Reeps beat tea party crazies.

Good read. Well worth the time.

BTW a good quote from the article which is absolutely true:

The establishment wing is discovering that it’s hard to keep the crazy quiet when your party’s voter base consists of neo-confederates, white supremacists, know-nothing libertarians, and evangelical theocrats.

What do you think will happen when Obama is impeached? With Clinton threatened with the same, as the last Democrat serving, that could get a little dicey.

I'll go with the libertarians and leave the matter of governance to my local and state legislatures where it belongs

I was listening to Donald Trump and he said the Tea Party loves him. But when they find out his true love is eminent domain, they wont love him long...

It's hilarious you think there is any chance of the House flipping when the reality is if any chamber is going to flip its the Senate and even that is a long shot.

Only crazies like Oerdin would both posting crap like this.

GOP approval rating is at 32%. They still think they're going to win the Senate. We live in hilarious times.

Would you care to make a bet on the Democrats taking the House Oerdin? If the GOP holds it, I want your avatar and signature for a month. If the Democrats take it, you can have mine.

I don't think they will. I think the establishment has learned their lesson and will actively campaign against the most extreme candidates. There are dozens of examples at both the Federal and State level though where Republicans have lost seats they should have picked up because the candidate was too crazy for the voters to vote for. It's nice that at least some people in the Republican Party have figured out they need to beat down the crazies.

Betting on US politics is always a crapshoot. On one hand you can be completely positive that the GOP will continue to be horribly offensive and vile, but on the other you can never safely bet against the Dems being faced with an open goal and then missing it completely.

That's easier than you might assume when you consider how many Americans hold horribly offensive and vile views.

So you give this article as much credibility as I do. Why did you feel the need to post it?

I'm sure you'd support universal health care where your taxes pay rather than billing to companies...
