That's three summonses in 14 months after I regularly got one every 10 months for several years (even though pretty sure legally, I can only be summoned once a year).
Explain.

Just call the number listed and repeat the dates of your last service, and you should be removed from this pass.
I did that a few years ago. I had been called once a year but they sent me one early. After I called I haven't been selected since.

Well I didn't serve the second one for obvious reasons, however, I did think being exempt from a service cycle counted as 'service' for that year. Maybe it doesn't.
The number on the summons is purely automated. When I'm in Philly, I'll try to get this fixed. By then, though, the summons would be legitimate so I may have to do it the next repeat too early cycle.
I think it's a bigger issue, though. I am double registered to vote under my name and a mis-spelling of my name.

Well if you haven't gone to jury duty in a year, then do your duty and go and quit complaining.

I can't. In Jacksonville, NC on active duty. I'm exempt.

I do remember once when I was younger and was sent a summons right as I was moving out of the county so I figured it was safe to ignore it.
WRONG. They issued a warrant. Once I explained that I had moved, I fudged on the date a bit, it got cleared up. But I never figured they'd take it that seriously.

that reminds me, I forgot that I have jury duty coming up.

I've gotten two in 20 year. One I showed up for and they didn't need me and the second I just told them I would be working out of state and couldn't possibly do it. They haven't bothered to send me one since.

This city has a lot of people moving in and out. College students, military, etc... So if you don't show up they just seem to figure the person in question has moved.
Doctors are automatically exempt from jury duty. I suspect that lawyers and Ph.D.'s in the sciences are too.
Lawyers are not. My dad periodically gets summons. However they are usually removed from the selection pool, either because one of the sides objects or because they know the system well enough to get themselves removed by their answers to the questionnaire.

Lawyers are problematic on juries because one person tends to become a thought leader for the jury and most jurors are more than happy to let them do everything, because few people really want to be there. Lawyers, since they already know the legal process and by their profession tend to be good (or at least better) at persuasion generally become the thought leader of whatever jury they serve on. This makes them a major wild card and so one side or the other will usually be opposed to having them on the jury.
Honestly, juries suck. They don't really do anything to protect our rights anymore, and mostly just add a lot of randomness to the outcome of trials.

I sent a letter listing about 20 reasons I was unsuitable for jury duty when I was a university student. It worked a treat, I have not been contacted since.
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..
