If what you know about the October Revolution is of a piece with what you 'know' about Franco and 20th Century Spain and also the course of the Viet Nam War, then I think we can safely say you're talking out of your arse.Vive la liberte. Noor Inayat Khan, Dachau.

Not really. People are just ignoring the irrelevant repetitive parts of your posts.Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostI've yet to receive an explanation why bombing abortion clinics is wrong, but terrorism against apartheid is right. Odd that.

Could black South Africans vote to eradicate apartheid ? Oh, they couldn't, that's right. That was just one of the legal righst which you revel in that was denied them. The right to an education, the right to marry someone who was not black, the right to live where they liked, the right not to have to carry a pass, the right to the same level of medical care as a white South African.... it's quite a lengthy list.Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostA majority of people here in Texas would vote to eradicate abortion.
Still, I bet you'll say you've read all those restrictions and laws too, won't you, Sister B. ?Vive la liberte. Noor Inayat Khan, Dachau.

If a zygote fails to mature it is not a child. It's pointless calling a foetus an unborn child, since you have no way of knowing if any of a number of natural causes would have prevented the development.Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostNot for unborn children. What democratic process do they have access to?
If you believe in an omniscient omnipotent god (can't see much point believing in one that isn't) then given that miscarriages and spontaneous abortions occur naturally, surely your deity is an abortionist on a worldwide scale ?Vive la liberte. Noor Inayat Khan, Dachau.

Guess the poster folks !Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostI, frankly am not surprised that Apolyton supports violence when it aligns with their politics. It is good now that it is out in the open.
But not if you were a black South African under apartheid, presumably....As I became older, I changed my beliefs. Now, I'm pretty firmly in the conservative camp with some libertarianish leanings... I believe in natural rights, although that has extended from just freedom of speech, to religion, and the right to bear arms.
Oh, I can't keep you all in suspense- it's Sister Bendy of the Blessed Hypocrisy. Busy farting out a cloud of frankincense and sanctimony.Vive la liberte. Noor Inayat Khan, Dachau.

I suggest Ben read Mark Mathabane's autobiography, Kaffir Boy, that was required reading in high school. I remember it as a harrowing portrait of growing up Black in apartheid South Africa. Unfortunately, if Ben were to read it, he'd probably gloss over the oppression and point to Mathabane's hard-fought triumph as proof that things weren't so bad."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

One Million Times This. Mandela's story is the ultimate 20th Century story of Christian redemption (Mandela was a Christian, so I'm not appropriating him for Christian purposes, mind). I fear that Ben would be yelling at the Apostle Paul, trying to tell people not to listen to him because he was persecuting Christians.Originally posted by Nikolai View PostAs I've said time and time again Ben, whatever he did or did not do, he changed in prison. Christianity is about redemption, and he certainly did go the redeption way. Christianity is about turning the other cheek and doing well towards your enemy, and he certainly did that too.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Sister Bendy probably thinks that all those Roman Catholics who were killed in East Timor shouldn't have attempted to fight back, they would only have just made what was proportionally one of the 20th Century's worst genocides even worse.Originally posted by Dr Strangelove View PostLast I heard there was a Roman Catholic concept of a "just war".
Still it's good to see Sister Bendy expecting others to die for his supposed moral standards. Remembering how he wailed that the Roman Catholic Church was being 'persecuted' by the Canadian government (yes, the Canadian, not the Chinese, or Sudanese, or North Korean or Burmese, that same Canadian government which allows freedom of worship to Roman Catholics and absent mindedly leaves Roman Catholic churches open...) I wondered when he's going to seek martyrdom for his faith- and where.
I'd like to propose he puts his money where his mouth is and sets off to 'enlighten' Kano or Waziristan.Vive la liberte. Noor Inayat Khan, Dachau.

If a white supremacist, apartheid regime accused a black man of crimes, then the accusations MUST have been true.Originally posted by molly bloom View PostBased on what ? That you called him a murderer and failed to provide any proof for your claim ? That despite fighting for the freedom of South Africa's black majority and being imprisoned for his struggle, he came out of prison and in a genuinely Christian way forgave those who had persecuted him ?
Lesser people might have been consumed with bitterness and returned race hatred with hatred. He sat down to tea with the widow of apartheid Premier Hendrik Verwoerd and invited her to be part of a democratic South African future.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.
