The bad blood created here mean that it's a very real possibility the GOP will cut the legislation filibuster immediately and do exactly that

Neither side wants to remove the 60 vote requirement for legislation. If it was done, every election cycle would be about voting in or repealing the last thing the party did.
To us, it is the BEAST.

They might if the alternative is living with the atrocity known as Obamacare.

Harry Reid has always been a short-sighted moron. He is like the administration in that he is all about the immediate political convenience. I am convinced Democrats will come to regret this decision very deeply.

Give it time. Let it fail in all of it's glory. We've just seen the tip. More dems will start abandoning the sinking ship.
This can't end well. Maybe the next time whoever will come up with a better solution.

Reid has always been a short-sighted moron. I've always found him strange as Majority Leader since the Senate has historically taken the long view of things. However, Reid has a lot in common with the Administration in the sense that he has always been about immediate political convenience, while almost not caring about long-term political consequences. I am convinced that the Democrats will come to deeply regret today's vote.

When we're in the middle of a Republican presidency with the GOP controlling both houses of congress, and the Supreme Court votes to overturn Roe v. Wade while Republicans turn Medicare into a voucher system, they will be very sad pandas indeed.

And before anyone gets skeptical of the possibility of overturning Roe v. Wade, you should consider the fact that the only reason Democrats want to keep abortion considered a constitutional right is that they know that among voters, most people think we should have stricter abortion laws.

Yeah, good luck getting a Republican presidency and a Republican senate lined up...

And of course Democrats don't want women in states like Mississippi to have their rights trampled on.

You obviously are not up to date on the upcoming Senate races.

You'll probably have a Republican Senate in 2015 now, unless Obamacare miraculously rights itself in the next year. A Republican president in 2017 is also more likely than not, although a lot could still change before then.

Yeah the Democrats are even more ****ed for 2014 than they were in 2010. It's really a perfect storm: midterm turnout demographics with horrible poll numbers which only seem to be getting worse, all coming down 6 years after they got swept into office in large numbers, yielding tons of vulnerable targets.

What's fun about discussing things with people who are factually challenge is knowing how wrong they are... but still, they persist.

                          It's so awesome.

Please explain to me how that statement was factually challenged.

Somehow I doubt "war on women" ads will be distracting many people from the obamacare **** sandwich in the rematch.

                              Websites get fixed.

Most of the individual items in Obamacare, people like.

All you guys have is a name that doesn't poll as popular as "Affordable Care Act". That's not a strategy that's going to be effective in the long term. Repealing the legislation would take such a ground-swell, it's really not feasible.

The best you can do now is use it as a fundraising tool... which is what people, the likes of Ted Cruz, are doing.

If you honestly think the Republicans will overcome their colossal failures in adapting to changing demographics and losing the culture war... well... then you are deluded.

The whole "war on women" thing was very successful. Republicans spent the whole 2012 cycle arguing how they really aren't the party of rape. It was hilarious to watch. The same kind of thing will happen again. It might not be that. But there are plenty of hilariously offensive examples of Republican ineptitude to choose from.

Conservatives will assume everyone else hates Obamacare as much as they do. Good luck with that strategy.
