For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Let's lay out the facts.
1. "Redskin" isn't the obvious racial slur that uninformed people believe it to be. For most of its history in the English language it's been used primarily as either a respectful term to address Native Americans (both by whites and other natives), or the anachronistic name of an NFL team.
2. There's no evidence that the Redskins franchise has ever intended to offend Native Americans with its name. The name stems from the football team's early association with the Boston (now Atlanta) Braves and the Boston Red Sox, and the fact that their head coach at the time of the naming (William "Lonestar" Dietz) claimed to be part Native American.
3. Claims that George Preston Marshall (owner of the Redskins at the time of their naming) was a racist are definitely true, but conveniently leave out the fact that his bigotry was directed primarily at African-Americans (Washington was the last team in the NFL to integrate) and not Native Americans. The Redskins actually had several Native American players during Dietz's time as head coach; Dietz is also said to have designed the Redskins' logo.
4. It's really not clear how the Native American population in the United States feels about the name. The existing poling on the subject isn't conclusive, and the fact that some Native American high schools use "Redskins" as their mascot doesn't necessarily mean that they're fine with non-Natives using the term in the same way.
5. Dan Snyder is a huge ******* and forcing a name change just to spite him is probably a better reason than the ones currently being given.
6. Docfeelgood is a racist piece of **** and should really **** off.I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.

When anyone here can post an instance of someone using "redskins" as a racial insult in say this century you get a cookie. When you are done failing at this we can discuss the real issue here which is Minnesota naming their team after murdering rapists."The DPRK is still in a state of war with the U.S. It's called a black out." - Che explaining why orbital nightime pictures of NK show few lights. Seriously.
