Urban people have a lot to fear.
Urbanites are in the best possible situation.

If something horrible happens, economically, working together is going to be the key to survival... not hiding in a bunker.
To us, it is the BEAST.

Typically, interruptions in supply chains affect urbanites more drastically than people in rural areas.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi criticized a House Republican plan set for a vote today as "a decision to default."
what's the worst that could happen?

Cities have the infrastructure to properly deal with major interruptions. They have the manpower necessary to keep basic services running. For instance, Chicago and the outlying areas get their water from the lake. Even with a major economic collapse, it is easy to keep providing clean water.

So while you are drinking your own filtered piss water, I'll still have clean tap.

The manpower in Chicago will be to busy dealing with the riots from no social security checks and no food stamps. Meanwhile, I will be sitting next to a beautiful, crystal clear mountain stream with my fire barbequing my venison steak and cleaning my rifle. Best of luck to ya...hope that 30 second police response still works when the food gangs break down your door and raid your cupboard.

The link I posted showed that the Senate GOP and Dems reached an agreement but then the House Republicans put in a bunch of new demands which even Republican Senators said were designed to torpedo the agreement. This is the same thing that happened with the budget agreement, Dems caved to Republican demands and cut $73 billion out of the budget because Boehner claimed that would avoid a government shut down, but no sooner was the agreement made & passed than Republicans renegged on the agreement and put a list of 28 new demands. That's called negotiating in bad faith and that is the whole reason Republicans then shut down the government yet here we are in the verge of default (simply because Republicans want it that way) and the Repubs are playing the same stupid, dishonest little games. It's irresponsible but that's the modern GOP, irresponsible and not willing to actually govern.

No. It is absolutely true. Do you know anything about the logistics of supplying an urban area the size of Chicago with just food?

                              You have a wild imagination.

Recent history has proven that in times of crisis, people band together... Boston bombing, superstorm Sandy, flooding in Colorado

Sorry. The whole scenario you imagine is just to get idiots like you to buy ammo, gold, and survival gear.

Is it responsible to continue to borrow hundreds of billions of dollars a year (or even trillions) and refuse to negotiate on a plan to eventually bring it under control? Is it responsible to refuse to negotiate with the party that controls the constitutionally mandated elected body to initiate all spending bills? Is it responsible to bully through legislation that affects 20% of the economy and not even give the slightest consideration to the minority party's views?

Let's face it together Oerdin, BOTH parties are irresponsible.
