Come to think of it this aircraft carrier, aircraft destroyer, whatever, probably doesn't bother the chinese all that much since they'll have proper CATOBAR carriers shortly that carry real jets which can actually fly fast and far with weapons on them, unlike the ****ty carriers basically everyone but the US and France have.

Anyway. That's just a model for Japan's aircraft carrier carrier. It's purely defensive to help America transport its aircraft carriers.

From looking at the flight deck, I imagine that they gave some consideration to the STVOL F-35B when they designed it. I would imagine that it could be configured to have 15-20 of them operating on that ship.

China certainly is making progress but they have a long way to go to get to even France's level of flight operations...let alone the U.S.

Aren't the British building two fleet carriers now as well?

Also just did a little quick research....

The previous Izumo lead attacks against the Russians at Vladivostok in the Russo-Japanese War and was the Flagship during the Japanese invasion of China in the second Sino-Japanese War. It was also the ship that opened fire on the USS Wake in Shanghai in the first post Pearl Harbor action of WWII.

Talking about picking a name to piss everybody off!

No offense, but why should that piss anyone off ?
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

It should have been named the Nadesico.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I have bookmarked this post in case the Germans ever build an aircraft carrier and name it schwimmtluftwaffeindieNiederlandszubombardieren (or Hitler)

Yes, but whether or not they ever buy planes is an open question.

Except without catapults which means they suck.

Currently British naval aviation consists of some Apaches on loan from the army.

Could the QEs be retrofitted with catapults?

Yeah but Britain won't pay for it.
