A very nice Belgian Wit Beer and a genuine Belgian abbey ale. I'm enjoying some now and it scored a perfect 100 points on ratebeer.com. The head is creamy and long lasting, there are pleasant notes of citrus and cream in it and while the hoppiness is muted it has a very pleasant mouth feel.

I picked up a bottle today at Whole Foods when I was there for their "Taste of Baja" where they had all the major movers and shakers of the Baja Med culinary movement there. Everything was fresh and local from northern Baja with artisan olive oil producers, artisan cheese producers, artisan bakers, actual fisherman selling their daily catch, and many of the reknowned chefs of the Baja Med movement offering free samples of their food. My favorite was done by a 70 year old Mexican grandmother who has been running the same street cart down in Ensenda since the 1960's, Mariscos La Guerrerences. I had never thought of sea urchin and pismo clam going together before but they're truly excellent on a tostado with a wash of lemon juice and one of the 40 different home made salsas (some of them extremely surprising in their flavor profile). A close second was the sea snail and scallop tostado.

I had the sea urchin and pismo clam tostado with the chili peanut sauce. It sounds weird but it works; boy does it ever work. I bought it for $5 per tostado and that was considered really expensive as she normally sells them for $3 but due to the expense of packing everything up and moving north of the border for the day she added $2 per tostado to the price. I have no complaints.

Should I be proud that the Catholic Church has given you "a very pleasant mouth feel?"

This is what I went too and I'm hoping they do more expositions like this because there are a ton of great unique eateries south of the border which Americans (even in the border cities like San Diego) have never heard of or experienced before. There are great artisan producers on both sides of the border so the more the two groups can cooperate the more wonderful fresh and local regional cuisine we'll have.
