They just want to turn this country into a conservative bumper sticker talking point circle jerk. Tell them jumping off a cliff is freedom and they'll do it.
Ummm...the community reinvestment act implementation that Reno spearheaded was about as far from "pandering to the right" as you can get actually. But I do agree that Clinton definitely moved more to the center his second term.

I would like to thank BB for the ~10% increase in effective income I saw just about overnight. It's like his helicopter finally found my house ... crashed ... and I was able to sell off some of the debris as scrap metal

Make something you love your career. Like go on fiverr and post a gig ... for $5 you'll sit around and do nothing for a full 24 hours. Then you're always working! (In times you aren't getting any paying gigs, you can just say you're developing your skills and stocking inventory for when the Christmas rush hits ... )

              Good advice.

I am trying. I've always wanted to make games, but I'm a lazy and ****ty programmer.

There are more tools available now than ever before. The guy who made Gunpoint (a recent indie hit) used a simple tool called "Game Maker". I've run through the first tutorial.

My problem is that I want to make some massively ambitious project by myself. I need to start small.

I'm lucky enough that I can focus on this as a hobby. Though, I think the lack of desperation from a financial standpoint may hold back motivation a bit.

I always enjoy the personal stories people share here. It helps make success seem more attainable.

Today's numbers are looking encouraging for stabilization. MBS are down for the day but trading within a stable range for the time being. Looks like the initial adjustment may be finding some footing. 30 year conventional rates look to be stabilizing in the 4.750% to 5.250% range. Buy downs to the next level in some buckets are looking attractive.

If you want to program a game, start with Android/iPhone. Make a functional, interesting game there, that's not too complicated. Not only is it a great learning experience but you can actually make money from very simple games if they're catchy, even now; 'cube runner' for example is basically a PoC but is quite fun nonetheless...

This game maker program is multi-platform and will compile for windows, mac, android/iphone, and linux. I think there are plugins for xbox live too.

Hmm. I hate zombies, but could have fun with this.

How about this premise: the player runs around killing zombies because the zombies are having sex with each other everywhere.

Also, the main character could be more upset at the public zombie fornication than the fact that the dead have risen... and also, there's a twist at the end where the good guy becomes bad and you kill him because you find out he rapes deaf kids

What I mean is not to use a 'game maker program', and in particular don't try to do something multiplatform. Ick, that's a disaster waiting to happen. Think Civ5-when-it-shipped level disaster.

I mean, learn to program for real. Write a simple game, even like a text game or something. Whatever. "Hoist the Cup with Kaner". Something that doesn't take much/any graphics stuff yet, just something that lets you program something real in a short amount of time. Cocoa and Java are both quite easy to learn and thus to develop in.

I know how to program. I'm just lazy and don't like to do it because it's boring.

A few indie hits aside, making a game usually requires more than one person. If I was part of such a team, I wouldn't want to be a programmer. I enjoy making the art, sound, and doing the overall design.

I'm not doing multi-platform. I'm just making it for PC. The app is capable of compiling for all those platforms.

I'm starting simple. Something 2D. I want to test basic design concepts, then scale it up. I have notepads full of detailed designs for games. I always figured doing the actual coding was the absolute last part. If I knew what the end experience was like and what math was required, I could translate my design into whatever platform I wanted... with in reason of technical limitations.

I want to look at everything I wrote before. I think I had some good ideas for a TBS civ-style game. This was before Civ3 came out.

But anyways. I need to be able to make simple things easily first. If I can get comfortable enough with the app to make Pong in 5 minutes, I'll be good. Then I can spend all the time I want making pretty graphics and whatnot.
