  • Why did British bystanders watch a soldier get hacked to death?

    http://dailycaller.com/2013/05/24/wh...cked-to-death/

    Mike Piccione - Daily Caller

The recent attack on a British soldier by assassins wielding meat cleavers while bystanders looked on raises the question: “Why didn’t anyone try to help the victim?”

Because British citizens are prohibited from carrying objects that could be used as “offensive weapons.”

While it is well known that Brits cannot carry guns, a lesser known law prohibits any subject of the Queen from carrying a knife of consequence, pepper spray or a stun gun.

According to the United Kingdom government website, the online storehouse of British government regulations, it is illegal to:

*sell a knife of any kind (including cutlery and kitchen knives) to anyone under 18
*carry a knife in public without good reason – unless it’s a knife with a folding blade 3 inches long (7.62 cm) or less, eg a Swiss Army knife
*carry, buy or sell any type of banned knife
*use any knife in a threatening way (even a legal knife, such as a Swiss Army knife)

Folding knives, regardless of blade size, with a locking mechanism are illegal in the U.K. for carry in public and are referred to as “lock knives.” According to British law, “The maximum penalty for an adult carrying a knife is 4 years in prison and a fine of £5,000.”

Pepper spray is also illegal under section 5(1)(b) of the Firearms Act 1968, which prohibits “any weapon of whatever description designed or adapted for the discharge of any noxious liquid, gas or other thing.”

It is illegal to import pepper spray or a stun gun because British law expressly states that pepper spray and stun guns are classified as firearms. Blow guns are classified as “offensive weapons” and are prohibited to own, except for veterinarians or registered animal handlers.

According to the UK website, “Having an offensive weapon in a public place without lawful authority or a reasonable excuse can also lead to a fine and/or up to four years in prison.”

If you are known to have imported and possess the weapon the legal ramification is a fine and a prison sentence of up to ten years.

A reasonable excuse is defined as:

*taking knives you use at work to and from work
*you’re taking knives to a gallery or museum to be exhibited
*the knife is going to be used for theatre, film, television, historical reenactment or religious purposes (eg the kirpan some Sikhs carry)

The government also states, however, “A court will decide if you’ve got a good reason to carry a knife if you’re charged with carrying it illegally.”

"You all just stood there. Now your government is arresting YOU if you speak out about Muslims on Facebook. You cowards deserve it.
    God save the Queen!"

But Doc that's not true, some folks showed extraodinary bravery, one lady got off a bus to help, she checked the victim and kept the assailants talking until Police arrived, others did the same, it's called British pluck.

I'm sorry Doc this thread is such an own goal

A woman who risked her life to confront an armed man suspected of slaughtering a British soldier in broad daylight has described how she tried to calm him moments after the barbaric attack.

Ms Loyau-Kennett, 48, was on a bus heading through Woolwich in south east London on Wednesday afternoon when she spotted the stricken soldier lying bloodied in the road.

"I thought it started as a simple road accident, there was somebody lying on the ground and the car was crashed and so, as a first aid person trained by the Girl Guides, I got off the bus and approached the body," she told The Telegraph in an exclusive interview.

She then tried to feel his pulse, but couldn't detect one, and was told by a woman who was cradling the body that the man had already died.
There was incredible bravery from bystanders, this lady a real hero, and the gentleman, the lady cradling the poor soldier's body, who hasn't even come forward since...all the while the assailents ate standing nearby, brandishing bloody knives

Ms Loyau-Kennett was then approached by one of the two alleged attackers, who told her not to get too close to the body.

"I looked at him and saw that he had a revolver and a butcher's knife," she said.

She then described how the man told her that he had killed the man because he was "a British soldier who killed people in Muslim lands".

The 48-year-old added that she kept the man talking in the hope that, if he was concentrating on speaking to her, nothing else would happen.
I'm so proud of these people, restores your faith in humanity, like the guy who called the cops for those girls held hostage in the US.

One of the things that motivated these people, who were mostly middle-aged and stood no chance if the attackers turned on them, was there was a primary school right there and they didn't want anything to happen to the little children, who starting to come out at the end of the school day.

By guests you mean someone born in the U.K. ? Like the young man who made the address ?

Also note the name of the woman who confronted them :

Ms Loyau-Kennett, mum to Pawony and Basil Baradaran,
Great British names those. London happens to be a great multicultural city- one of the reasons I enjoy living here.

Thank you for this post. The impression I had from reports earlier is that someone bizarrely filmed the whole thing and that they had a casual chat with the murderers. I salute that lady.
