Carriers can't be sunk by diesel subs if they're far enough away from the sub's homeport. Diesel subs have terrible range if they're running quiet. But honestly our submarine force is more than enough to handle virtually any European navy.

      1. The LCS is a horrible turd.
      2. A carrier's main defense against subs lies in the fact that it's really ****ing fast, so subs have to move fast and make a lot of noise to catch up with it.

I'm so glad we waste lots of money on all this crap.

Yeah, I think a lot of people have the false impression that carriers are big fat and slow, but they're actually just big and fat. They're powered by nuclear reactors, they can go faster than any other surface vessel we have for longer periods of time.

The nuclear reactors aren't the reason they go fast...although it does help them maintain that speed. A hull's maximum speed in the water is proportional to the square root of its length. Carriers are big. Big ships go faster than small ships except for the ones that can get up on a plane.

You must admit that it's kind of cute that our local expert in submarine tactics think that they tries to catch their intended victims

They watch one show on the Military Channel and think they know it all.

I know that there are a number of navy sailors here so may I suggest that you google "absalon pirate" ? A local tv station (TV3) followed the ship absalon for a period hunting pirates.

I know that it's mostly in danish, but you may find it interesting to see how another countrys navy operates.

                    A small teaser

That is quite and awful news for the government. I wonder how are they gonna make up for the losses incurred. Ohh yes they are gonna put that on us.increasing taxes and the costs on other amenities. That really sucks.

That boat was filled with hostages, so no free shooting

Though, they finally surrendered and the hostages was freed

One of the links at the end is called NATO Chronicles. Watching it I realized that Danes speaking English are easier to understand than the English are.
