  • Who threw a vegemite sandwich at the Prime Minister? Not I Maam! Spot the sandwich in flight!

Who knew? Who threw? Does the school have a grassy knoll?

A STUDENT suspended for throwing a sandwich at the Prime Minister during a visit at a Logan school has denied he did it.

Kyle Thomson, 16, was one of many teens who mobbed Julia Gillard during a visit to Marsden State High School, south of Brisbane, this morning.

While speaking to students a vegemite sandwich was hurled in the direction of Ms Gillard, flying past her and hitting another student.

A teacher declared Kyle was the one who threw it and he was subsequently suspended for 15 days.

But Kyle has denied the allegations, instead claiming he tried to stop another student from throwing the sandwich.

"I hit the sandwich out of the kids hand because he threw it," he told Channel 9.

"There was another one, so I hit it out of his hand."

Kyle's mother believes her son is being unfairly blamed for the incident and has demanded all footage from the visit be reviewed to find the real culprit.
So apparently the kid told his Mum and now the nation that he is a hero. Personally I would probably have gone for the "I was just trying to give it to her" defense...although the librarian I once hit in the chest with a orange during a school fruit fight didn't buy it either...

See the video here and make up your own mind, along with the Australian nation

btw this PM is dead in the water, the most unpopular in decades, expect vegemite sandwich security sweeps at all her future walkies...

It's almost the perfect way to show contempt, another PR disaster for this hapless leader - the national sandwich hurled at the PM by a school student - she claims to be the education PM - could it get any worse? Well yes, the school may have suspended the wrong kid...

Expect more of this as the election approaches - you can hardly be charged with assault with a deadly sandwich...although a vegemite sandwich that has been in a boy's bag all morning on a hot day can be pretty toxic

There was a second sandwhich thrower lying hidden in the grassy knoll.

The Iraqi dude with the shoe was better (what happened to him, anyway?). But this is also good.

EDIT: It seems he's out of jail and involved in charitable work now. Good for him.

The deeply unpopular Australian PM has had another sandwich thrown at her by a school student

JULIA Gillard has had another sandwich thrown at her during a school visit.

A salami sandwich was lobbed at the prime minister as she greeted schoolchildren at Lyneham High School in Canberra on Thursday.

ACT education authorities are now speaking to the student involved.

"The school is currently looking into this incident," the Education and Training Department said in a statement.

Ms Gillard was using the visit to announce the ACT had signed up to the federal government's national schools funding reforms.

Asked if she was disappointed it had happened again, Ms Gillard joked the thrower "must have thought I was hungry".

In May, a Vegemite sandwich was thrown at Ms Gillard while she was visiting Marsden State High School, south of Brisbane.

Kyle Thomson, 16, was among a group of teenagers who jeered at Ms Gillard on the visit and was accused of throwing the sandwich.

He was suspended from school for 15 days despite denying he was responsible.

I love the way the kid always denies responsibility, but get suspended anyway
