    The priest does it, on holy thursday. They usually pick poor people, older parishioners, sick people or people who have been of service, those that go unnoticed like the people who clean the church etc.' I have assisted in that ceremony - it is not pretty sometimes, the smell, the wrinkles, the bunions...better him than me.

    It is a neat ceremony, reminds the priest of who serves who - his vocation and is can be quite a wonderful way to say thank you or lift someone up in the eyes of the congregation who might often be overlooked.


    I think only a catholic priest can give you eucarist, right?
    No they have eucharistic ministers now who give out communion or deliver it to the sick and infirm every week. Only a priest can consecrate the eucharist.


    I would even be willing to take classes on how to wash catholic girl's feet since I'm protestant or something like that.

            He started his reign by promising to not turn the Roman Catholic Church into some sort of "do-goodery" NGO, so I think I'll adopt a wait and see attitude.

                    As far as I know there's only about 2-3 people on this site that might truly give a crap about this issue and you aren't one of them either.
