It's only $110 for the 18 year stuff.

It does have scotch, bottled beer and poker, though. So it's not all bad.

Woot. Not cheap at almost $1200 a bottle though.

...and here is the Highland Park 12 year old at about $45 per bottle. Note it has a similar rating (a bit lower) and a slightly lower price. For its price, the 12 year old in blind tests outrates most much more expensive 15 - 21 year olds. Trust me.

A couple of years ago, I was doing a show with a bunch of fellow scotch drinkers. We kept the empties on the hat shelf of one of our dressing rooms. Near the end of the run, the stage manager mentioned that the next set at that theatre included a bar. We generously donated our empties (42 of them) which quite nicely filled the set piece.

I don't like my whiskey too smokey, prefer the slight sweetness of Irish, but can't stand bourbon, too sweet, any recommendations?

Balvenie Double Wood, just a fantastic easy drinking yet flavourful whisky of the style you are after.

Basically you want to go for something from Speyside aged in Sherry casks.

Come to Denmark, almost as cheap as the US

Highland Scotches tend to be less peaty and smokey, with Dalwhinney 15 years probably being the 'lightest' tasting. Or try this -
