I intend to stay reality based in my assessments just as I have no doubt you will continue to spew nothing but lies.

The deficit is now down to just over 800 billion from a high of 1.6 trillion and will continue to fall even if nothing changes. That is pretty damn close to halving the deficit even if you don't like it. Reality just isn't your strong point but if I was as wrong as you are about... Well EVERYTHING, then I guess I would be tempted to lie as you constantly do. That's why I don't feel bad when you project and try to claim I am wrong about things because I know it is just you trying to sooth the massive amounts of cognitive dissonance in that poor besotted mind of yours.

Here's an even better graph which shows how wrong Drake is, as usual.

The guy just can't help being wrong and is the real poster who is always wrong.

            Brief rebuttals:

Even the most generous reading of Obama's spending record (which has been widely disputed) gives Eisenhower the nod in inflation-adjusted terms.

The deficit never reached $1.6 trillion. The peak was $1.413 trillion in 2009.

predominantly the Republicans intransigence which is leading to it actually happening.
There is reality based and then there is reality based.

                    1. WH suggests/insists on sequestration mechanism (due in largest part for the bad faith bargaining i.e. last minute add of $400 B after debt ceiling deal was supposedly reached)

                    2. After vote was held, POTUS declared he would veto any attempts at its undoing. Namely "“There will be no easy off-ramps on this one. We need to keep the pressure up to compromise, not turn off the pressure,” the president said this evening. “The only way these spending cuts will not take place is if Congress gets back to work and agrees on a balanced plan to reduce the deficit by at least $1.2 trillion.”

The $1.2 trillion in cuts that will be triggered are divided equally between social programs and defense spending. Republicans have dubbed the defense cuts “draconian” and, following news of the supercommittee’s failure, said they are now working on a plan to minimize the impact of the sequester on the Department of Defense.

But the president today flatly said he won’t accept any such deal and urged the two sides to continue working on an agreement."

                    3. Two such compromise deals were passed through the house and never considered by the Senate.

                    4. Senate has been completely silent on the matter.

House offering something is an overture to compromise. Senate refusing to discuss them is intransigence.

It's pretty typical that the democrats seem to believe that the public condemnation is about the execution not the concept. The whole thing could still be avoided now if the White House leadership would pull their heads out of their asses and compromise.

If they offer no compromise at all, that is not an overture to compromise. That is saying take it or leave it.
