Perhaps the villain will be a really second-rate imitation of Darth Vader as well, the way Nero was just a crappy remix of Khan. So, instead of being a hero lured to darkness and forced to redeem himself to save his son at the cost of his life, he'll be some sort of space bureaucrat who turned to municipal graft and has to sacrifice his career to keep his kids from taking the blame. Or something. I don't know where Abrams's genius will lead him here, being a lesser mortal.

Let's be honest here Elok. Anything Abrams could do to the series at this point would be better than what Lucas did with the Prequels.

Right. You really can't ruin star wars any more than it has already been ruined.

Yes, but would it look cool? Thats the main Question here.

A pity. You could improve your prose style, enlarge your positively denuded lexicon, and correct a few of your more egregious errors. But you're much better value 'just the way you are', to quote that outstanding modern philosopher, Billy Joel.

I really don't like horror films unless they're unbelievably bad.
That was indeed the reason for mentioning 'Zoltan', along with the appearances by Jose Ferrer and Reggie (Salem's Lot) Nalder :

Fringe was great and I will miss it, but it had tons of plot holes. Still I'd accept ten times the amount for more episodes with those characters. Lost was the same.

Now, with all that said, I'm not happy with Abrams taking the reigns of the new Star Wars movies. He will do an acceptable job, but I'd rather see someone different do something interesting with them. As much good work as he has done, I still don't want a Abrams dominated entertainment world.
Well, it's only for this one movie (so far). They may ask another director to do Ep 8, etc (like how the Original Trilogy was done). Abrams can get the ball rolling, basically (he definitely kick started the Star Trek series).

Molly, why are there so many horrible films from the 1970's? That clip looked like something you'd see on Mystery Science Theater.

Just a few faves... and remember the two Kolchak made for t.v. films ? 'The Night Stalker' and 'The Night Strangler' were really rather good but did lead to the awful low budget t.v. series....

Admittedly, it's quite easy to see films with cheesy special effects and think there's nothing redeemable about them, and in some cases it's quite true. On the other hand, it does seem to be the last decade when major Hollywood studios didn't routinely dumb everything down to the level of a bored horny male teenager with the attention span of a gnat somewhere in a Midwest suburb.

Female actors seemed to have been chosen for their acting ability and not their silicon levels or the height of their bikini waxes, and films sometimes had unresolved or unhappy endings... OMG!!!!

Seriously, though- as Ted Sturgeon once quipped- '90% of everything is crap', although now more money is thrown at it ('Pearl Harbour' ? 'John Carter' ? 'Gigli' ? ).....
