  • Who are American politicians beholden to? The People? The Constitution?

    Or Israel?

Chuck Hagel is in hot water for these comments:

"I’m a United States Senator, not an Israeli Senator. I’m a United States Senator. I support Israel. But my first interest is I take an oath of office to the Constitution of the United States. Not to a president. Not a party. Not to Israel."
Has America entered the Twilight Zone where Israel comes before America? I thought we had a word for putting other countries above America: it's called Treason.

"I have nothing against Wilson, but he's nowhere near the same calibre of QB as Flutie. Flutie threw for 5k+ yards in the CFL." -Ben Kenobi

Republicans have been pretty much in favor of treason for sometime now.

treason is waging war on your own country, not having alliances

The root of treason is placing another country's interests above your own. The act of treason inevitably follows from this.

Your pseudo-philosophical rambling aside, treason is clearly defined in the Constitution and by statute. And politicians are generally beholden to those who buy and pay for them.

This is a canny pick by Obama. Let the GOP continue to tear itself apart over transparently stupid bull****.

Plus Obama looks like the bipartisan nominating a Republican while Republicans attack their own party-mate like obstructionists.

                ****ing Obama. ****ing idiot Republicans.

that'd be true if those 2 countries were at war with each other

Obama is damned good politician. Which, pretty much by definition, makes him a ****ty person. But he is a DAMNED good politician.

Why? Obama could nominate Jesus himself and the Repubs would smear the guy and declare him unacceptable. Anyone he nominates would get filibustered so why not nominate a Republican so he looks good and Republican obstructionism becomes completely transparent to everyone?

He's bamboozled and hoodwinked America into a second term and the world into a Nobel Peace Prize. Must be a master politician.

Designating a moderate Republican ex-senator is pretty inspired.

Best part: GOPers objecting to Hagel because he has been insensitive to gays! The Log Cabin Republicans are up in arms!!
