Agency fees are not union dues. There are legal and accounting standards for their determination.

The one woman, Vicki Schwartz, claimed that after opting out of the political donations she had to officially "resign" from the union. She's still covered by the CBA (and paying agency fees), but she isn't allowed to vote or run in union elections. If this is a lie, please show me evidence. I have googled "vicki schwartz orange county union" and not found anyone disputing her claim. If she's lying, why isn't her union defending themselves publicly? I've looked through the CTA website, and they're silent. I'll keep looking, and see if I can get to the bottom of this.
What you cited is an opinion piece, not a news article. based on a claim by one individual. The only other references I saw on quick glance are to another opinion piece and a couple of election tracking sites which log opinions regarding propositions.

If I express an opinion regarding your unnatural attraction to farm animals, how much time will you invest in disputing those claims?

It's basic PR - why would CTA bother giving attention to two related local opinion piece regarding one person's claims? If a hundred people came out and raised similar claims, that's a different story - or even 10 in the same local. But so far, you have one, and only voiced through opionion pieces regarding a political initiative. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

Well then I'm at a loss, because I don't see anywhere in those three pages that mention non members being forced to pay union dues. The closest I could come up with were agency fees.

Was it a lie, as Dinner claims?
      John Brown did nothing wrong.

Who knows? There's no pending litigation, could be nothing more than a hatchet piece or a pissing match between Schwartz and local leadership. There's nothing to corroborate it, or refute it. Given it rose strictly via op-ed in the context of a political campaign, and there doesn't seem to be other info after the election, I wouldn't give it any credence, regardless of ideology or the nature of the claim - too much that happens in politics is just pure BS, from both sides.
