This entire post is deluded.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostOerdin, liberals like you called Reagan a radical extremist in 1980 and now that everyone likes him he's a paragon of the long-lost age of the reasonable Republicans. You're full of ****, as is that entire talking point.
When it came to domestic policy, George Bush was practically a Democrat between expanding Medicare and pushing federal education reform. Yet he's cited as the rising extremism of the right, despite his collaboration with a Democratic state legislature in the 90s.
Democrats invented a complete fantasy of Mitt Romney's political positions with all manner of hyperbole ("vampire"), and only retreated to "flip flopper" when that fantasy collapsed after the first debate. You just label those you disagree with as extremist as a way of justifying to yourself the fact that you completely ignore their point of view.

I hated him when he was a Governor, and hated him as a President. I honestly do not get all this Reagan worship.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostOerdin, liberals like you called Reagan a radical extremist in 1980 and now that everyone likes him he's a paragon of the long-lost age of the reasonable Republicans. Esp the Dubya being a Democrat on domestic policy. Massive tax cuts is a totally Democratic policy after all.Originally posted by gribbler View PostThis entire post is deluded.
And REPUBLICANS were calling Mitt a flip flopper. I mean look at his views as Governor of MA!“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

The guy who made up the whole 6,000 year old earth thing was a vicious anti-Catholic.Originally posted by -Jrabbit View PostI grew up being taught evolution in Catholic school. By nuns. This was in the 1960s.
Carbon dating? Accepted. Earth > 3 billion years old? No problem.
The vibe was: no life without God. But science was embraced.
I remain mystified at the strength of the literalist turn that the evangelical movement took.
Pat Robertson surprised me when I read his statement. Good for him.
Catholic clergy are more likely to spend their time playing with pea plants and discovering genetics, than making up creationist horse****.Originally posted by James Ussher via wikipediaThe religion of the papists is superstitious and idolatrous; their faith and doctrine erroneous and heretical; their church in respect of both, apostatical; to give them therefore a toleration, or to consent that they may freely exercise their religion, and profess their faith and doctrine, is a grievous sin.
Robertson has been impressing me lately, especially with his increased tolerance of marijuana. Perhaps he's busy building a tolerance this very second.
John Brown did nothing wrong.

there isn't any conflict between religion and science
I too have noticed Pat Robertson has toned it down a bit lately.Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..
Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

He's got to get ready for the War on Christmas.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”

They used to call themselved Fundamentalists back before some muslim psychos using the same moniker flew some planes into some buildings. Shortly after 2001 the use of the term Fundamentalist died out because they didn't want to be mistaken for Islamic Fundamentalists. In the US Christian Fundamentalism dates back to the last half of the 19th century and was a direct reaction to Darwin's theories which at that time had just begun to disseminate throughout the American heartland.Originally posted by -Jrabbit View PostI remain mystified at the strength of the literalist turn that the evangelical movement took."I say shoot'em all and let God sort it out in the end!

I was trying to figure out if it was a subversive joke to be so deluded right after criticizing schools for not teaching kids how to understand evidence.Originally posted by gribbler View PostThis entire post is deluded."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Are you seriously suggesting that Romney did *not* completely reverse course/flat out lie in the first debate regarding his previous positions in the campaign? Because we can go point-by-point through each of his debate answers and compare them to his previous statements and positions to show that this is indeed the case.Originally posted by Hauldren Collider View PostDemocrats invented a complete fantasy of Mitt Romney's political positions with all manner of hyperbole ("vampire"), and only retreated to "flip flopper" when that fantasy collapsed after the first debate.
