Because the somewhat unrealistic ideals of so-called "beauty" and "fitness" leads to problems for some other people, such as anorexia, use of steroids, and so on.

Being a top or bottom has nothing to do with masculinity.

How is fitness unrealistic? It is the human default. Beauty is a whole another thing but fitness?

And I'm not comprehending how your statement, even if it were true, is a response to my rhetorical question. Why is the ideal demonized and ridiculed while gluttony is upheld? Because the ideals lead to problems for some other people... not understanding how you got from point A to B. Because some people have issues with something that is otherwise good, it must be demonized?

How do you feel about alcohol consumption given the high prevalence of alcoholics? Driving when reckless drivers exist? etc. etc.

How can anything that requires "hard work and dedication" be considered a default state?

Hard work is the human default. Sedentarism is unnatural.

All rigorous diet and exercise is doing is mimicking the natural stressors that should be affecting our species.

They had to work hard to survive, but no one survives by default.

And this has what to do with what?

If you're really dedicated to living naturally, you should let a lion eat you after you turn 30.

There's nothing "natural" about your homoerotic obsession with bodybuilding.

I don't think gluttony is not positively upheld by most people. It's just that a lot of people are lazy, or have such low self-esteem that they just don't care about their health, one way or another.

And I don't think most people demonize exercise and beautification. What some people do however, is attack the excesses of exercising to the point of overdoing it, or beautifying to the point of being detrimental to one's physical and/or mental health.

It's great to be physically active and fit, and to care about one's appearance to a reasonable extent. But the advertising industry, when presenting ads for exercise equipment or programs, and when presenting ads for beauty products, use professional models whose appearances are generally not reasonably attainable to ordinary people. Thus, those ordinary people might resort to such things as steroids or anorexia.

                        Please.

Reasonably attainable must mean not sweating and not exerting oneself.

No one's saying look like a model but look like someone in shape and not fat... how is that not reasonably attainable?

Stupid comments on the internet? Imagine that.

Now, on to the real big problem with our society's value system: there are clothing companies that make "sexy" clothes for prepubescent girls. Why have these people not been killed?

EDIT: To be clear, by "these people," I meant the clothing makers/designers, not the girls.
