It's only what they deserve. They declared an intifada, and created their own "martyr's brigade." They played the game and lost; or at any rate, are losing.Originally posted by kentonio View PostWhat do you expect them to say? Fatah... are in an impossible situation right now.
Every Middle Eastern state is in an impossible situation right now. Yet still they exist. Not so impossible. Fatah exists thanks to guns and money, the same reason Hamas exists.
Against Fatah? Oh, I see. For attacking Israel. Self-defence is "idiotic in the extreme." Interesting times we live in. I don't pretend to have to hand the information necessary to make a judgement about whether it is appropriate to do so. In an ideal world, the Palestinians would abandon their madness. In a less ideal world where they do not, the Israelis would put the territories under military administration. In a far less ideal world even this may not be practical in the short term.Pushing against them right now would be idiotic in the extreme.
But what is practical is to make it clear to Fatah that it cannot kill Israeli civilians and get away with it. The "kill Israelis" competition between Hamas and Fatah cannot be countenanced. If we tolerate it we simply reinforce and prove that terror and threats work. We weaken ourselves at our enemies' expense. And that is dangerous.Last edited by Zevico; November 25, 2012, 07:54."You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier

They should've taken over Jerusalem years ago. Next step should've been enforcing a single state solution.Originally posted by SlowwHand View PostJust don't count on the U.N. butt munchers to do anything of worth.Graffiti in a public toilet

Seriously, please try and stop being a damn idiot just for a moment. Fatah have been trying to pursue a strategy that by the standards of that region can be called 'peaceful'. Certainly by comparison to Gaza, but with the recent Gazan episode they have to shout and call themselves resistance fighters or else they will end up beign overthrown in the West Bank too, and that would be very bad news for any possible peace in the region.Originally posted by Zevico View PostIt's only what they deserve. As for 'losing', that shows just how narrow your view of the conflict is. For Israel to win the Palestinians can't 'lose'. The only outcome which delivers Israel the peace they so desperately want is for the Palestinians to have a stable, peaceful nation. Every time anything throws that into disarray, Israel loses.

Gaza's problems are entirely due to the fact that it's run by a terrorist organization which refuses to make peace with its neighbors. And not trading with Gaza is pretty much the extent of Israel's injustices if that's what you want to call it.Originally posted by MrFun View PostIsrael may not be directly occupying the Gaza Strip, but it's doing so many other things to economically strangle that land. Which partly explains why the Gaza Strip has such a soaring, high level of poverty and unemployment.
