That isn't treason. It is an expression of what those citizens believe is best for them.

Dissent is patriotic. Treason is not.

Secession on the other hand has a reasonable justification in human rights. Today's secessionists aren't interested in protecting slavery. They just don't like being ruled by people who have a very different set of cultural values. The consequence of increasing the centralization of our government is that this country has never, ever had a unified culture and it forces a culture war. So in the face of increasing federal control over previously local concerns, calling for secession starts to sound reasonable.

Oerdin, please state the difference in your mind between dissent and treason. I'd hazard a guess that "dissent" is when you oppose a Republican administration and "treason" is when you oppose a Democratic administration.
