It's a fun place to visit (mostly for the nearby canoeing and such in rivers and forests). No idea about living there though ...

Eh. The campus of WMU and the surrounding area are pretty nice, the downtown has a lot of old-school charm; the streets are still bricks in some parts. Some parts are... less than picturesque.

Granted, I haven't been in Kalamazoo since I was visiting a friend doing undergrad there back around 2000.

Residency ended a while ago, but that's where I found a job.

Hard to pick up and move when you're already six figures in debt to the Dept. of Ed.

At least it is a low cost of living state which should help make it easier to pay off all those student loans.
