My brother and his family are still without power. they will probably remain so for another 3-4 days, because of their location and what needs to be done even before power can be restored. They have a generator, but gas is hard to come by and goes quick. They expect snow.

Now if you had said something about storing having more fuel on hand to begin with if you go to the trouble of having a generator, you'd have more of a point.

Storing fuel for a gas powered generator is kind of hard since gas only lasts about six months tops before going bad. A better option is a propane powered generator or a diesel powered generator with a large storage tank. It wouldn't be cheap though especially if you're trying to run regular household appliances.
