Here's mine at the moment:
Movie Director - no idea.
Luke Skywalker - Chris Evans (basically a placeholder, I'm not really sure about this one)
Han Solo - NATHAN FILLION!
Princess Leia - Maggie Gyllenhaal
C-3P0 - Anthony Daniels
Lando Calrissian - ??? Not sure about this one either
Grand Admiral Thrawn - Alan Rickman
Talon Karrde - Robert Downey, Jr.
Mara Jade - Katee Sackhoff
Wedge Antilles - Karl Urban
Captain Pallaeon - Michael Caine
Joruus C'baoth - George Takei
I think Takei is perfect for Joruus. If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Nathan Fillion as awesome as he is hasn't shown an ability to play a morally ambiguous character like Solo.I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara

Sorry, Fillion is just too loveable to be Han. Not nearly mean enough. Clint Eastwood, perhaps? He'd make an awesome old Han.
Maggie Gyllenhaal is too young for Leia, also. Postwar Leia needs to be a bit more jaded, less innocent. Uma Thurman, perhaps.
Otherwise, your list in general sounds like a list of 'actors/actresses I like'. Have you seen movies with that many big stars? Ick. Even Ocean's 11, while not a bad movie, is hardly the tone we want in Star Wars. You want one or two stars with a bunch of good character actors who won't take away from the lead actors' spotlight.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

I'm not much of a film guy and don't know that many actors, so yeah it is in a lot of ways just actors in stuff I like.
If you're going with Clint Eastwood, you may as well just use Harrison Ford himself. Han Solo is only a little older in these books than he was in RotJ.
I don't think most of these people are big stars. A couple are TV actors like Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck). George Takei isn't on anyone's A-list. He's mostly a voice actor. He played a role in Red Alert 3. But I think he'd do really well as the evil jedi master. And I think Alan Rickman would do well as the main villain Thrawn, who is a cerebral guy, unlike Darth Vader who chokes dudes and gets mad.Last edited by Hauldren Collider; November 1, 2012, 17:16.If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Sure, but Leia should not be innocent - I think you all are missing some of the most important elements of Star Wars, which is the archetype progression. Leia was innocent (in a whilte dress, braided hair, etc.) in the first movie, but by the end of the third was wearing nature colors and was more of an 'earth mother' type (after progressing through the necessary slutty phase of course ) Maggie is not a mature, earth mother type - she's appropriate if Leia were still naive and innocent.
Han Solo perhaps is not as old as Clint Eastwood, I was sort of exaggerating there. But not Fillion in any event. Someone at least slightly older and more mature. And Han is still somewhat of a rogue - even at the end of RotJ he's a good guy, but a good rogue, just sort of settling down. There's no reason to think he isn't going to still have some of that in him. If anything Fillion is even worse for this reason - Fillion isn't good at serious. If Han has matured, it's matured into a more serious character. Harrison did serious well.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

You need someone who can be a dick as well as someone you root for (kind of like House, M.D.).<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.
