A reasonable thing to do, as Poly posters do not read your comments but the FBI does.

Mitt Romney is upset that no one was killed. Though he'll never say this publicly, right HC?

So we get in touch with them in some manner I'll assume doesn't constitute entrapment, and give them fake bombs before setting them up on Candid Killer Camera. The end. Is that the shape of it?

Why do all the people who want to blow stuff up get in touch with law enforcement agencies? If there aren't any actual criminal organizations waiting around to provide these nutters with genuine munitions, they're basically harmless unless they get really frustrated and just shoot some place up because they can't get any explosives. If there are such people, that raises a whole bunch of stumper questions: why are they so incapable of finding people to use their fine High Explosive products? If they are of the Islamic persuasion as well, why don't they use their own damned bombs? And why aren't our law enforcement officials going after them?
There's a bunch of terrorists in sleeper cells. They are waiting to be contacted to comit a terrorist act. The authorities must have found out who they are and pretended to be those who would give them orders.

Do you seriously care about Asher's harping on that point?

Ahhh, even the jihadis wouldn't take him. Oh, well... At least the FBI isn't so choosy.

Well, actually, it seems they were since he actually shot a bunch of people.

                        Well done FBI/NYPD

There might be better uses of these prospective terrorists though. We could take all these contestants and set up an obstacle course like "Wipeout", only without padding and with sharks. The prize is a van full of "fertilizer" and "diesel". (When they get in the van, Vin Diesel is there to kick their ass. Then once Vin Diesel is finished and exits the vehicle, it's pumped full of cow manure.)

I agree with Elok on this one.

Give me a credit card, a DIY centre, and a rental van and I could take out a bridge/subway/medium sized building. WTF is wrong with these 'terrorists'? Don't they have "internet"? Are they too proud to use tried and true American methods? Do they even know who Timothy McVeigh is?
I suspect the FBI simply troll for angry young muslims, offer them the means, and then arrest them as terrorists. Freakin' brilliant! Look at all the terrorists we're stopping! Increase our funding!
There's nothing wrong with the dream, my friend, the problem lies with the dreamer.

Anyone who passed a college chemistry course could probably build a satisfactory explosive device. Isn't nitroglycerin an intermediate for crystal meth?

The problem is that these people aren't loners. They're seeking validation for what they do. It's rare for someone to act on this alone. In order to do this you need to see it as heroic, and that's not a conclusion people often come to without guidance.
