Philadelphia tops national list of sweatpants-buying cities
Experian Marketing finds Philadelphians buy more sweatpants than other urbanites in United States in past 12 months.

"I think there are probably plenty of fashionable sweat options that are out there," says John Fetto, a researcher for Experian Marketing.

Rocky is not the only Philadelphian hustling around in sweatpants.

The City of Brotherly Love loves sweats — almost as much as cheese steaks, democracy and the Eagles.

Philadelphia's residents purchased more sweatpants than any other city in the country in the last 12 months, according to a survey of 209 market areas conducted by Experian Marketing.

EVER THOUGHT OF LIVING IN PHILADELPHIA?

"Philadelphia is the highest ranking when it comes to the mean number of sweats and sweat items that are purchased each year," John Fetto, a researcher for Experian Marketing, told CBS Philly.

Residents of Philadelphia can celebrate their second year atop the list — in comfort, of course. But they should not rest on their laurels just yet.

Hartford, Conn. came in at number two and fellow Pennsylvanians in Pittsburgh purchased their own share of sweats, placing third.

    ELASTIC WAISTBAND FASHION

Fashionable New Yorkers might have Fifth Avenue but enough of them enjoy comfort to push the Big Apple to seventh place — or perhaps sweats are in.

"There's no shame in wearing sweats. I don't think," Fetto said. "I think there are probably plenty of fashionable sweat options that are out there."

So whether you sport Flyers sweatpants or a gray sweat suit like the Italian Stallion, keep it cozy Philly.

    Is this because they're
    1. all running the streets and climbing stairs to the Rocky theme song
    2. think its a good fashion statement
    3. just given up and let themselves go.

Albert Speer. A modern bigot who just happens to wear sweatpants.

BTW it is only a matter of time until Albie becomes a 300 lb monstrosity. He'll need those sweat pants then.

You need sweats to run away from all the feral poodles.

You need sweatpants if you want to match your hoodie.

The article doesn't say where the sweats were being worn.

I wear sweat pants around the home all the time. They can't be beat for comfort.
