Classic is where its at. You'll be losing games left and right at the start.

Well, since my A-squad consists entirely of officer-rank soldiers and up, and I have nearly a full B-squad of sergeants (remainder are cpls and squaddies), thanks to my very low casualties and the mission rewards, Classic probably wouldn't be nearly as hard now. I have a core group of very experienced soldiers.

I captured a floater alive, finally. I was going to blast it to smithereens with my offense-assault's shotgun (run & gun), but then I just decided to have him sit there until the next turn instead, since he had carapace armor and the vest thingy. So I stunned it and then had my medic heal him. Yay, objective complete.

I'd just restart on classic personally, but if you're set on keeping the same game try upping the difficulty anyway. I've had (and lost) captains aplenty on classic.

My A squad is currently two majors and four captains. Still haven't had anyone die. Normal is really easy once you get super high ranking dudes. Their equipment isn't that great either.

The cases where I've had close shaves generally involve running into multiple mutons. I tend to use explosives on those.

Took me a while to realize having no cover is the equivalent of being flanked (thus it is impossible to flank a unit out of cover.)

Just did a mission in Cape Town and I noticed that all the cars were configured for driving on the right. Fail.

In my ironman restart, the first country that I lost was the United States.

                Whoops.

I just bought this game based on Guy's recommendation. His taste in games better be superior to his taste in college towns.

Technically speaking you also are following Wiglaf's taste in games. So you might have some cover there.

Anyway, nobody answered my question. Can you play this on a smaller screen, say a 13" Macbook? And can you play it with a laptop graphics card (albeit discrete graphics)?

Man, the "in the zone" upgrade for the sniper isn't even fair. It means shooting enemies flanked or out of cover doesn't require an action. Chryssalids and floaters can be annihilated and I can still scoot and reload in the same turn.
