Romney: the representative of the victimised billionaires, poor things

Interesting take on why super-wealthy people like Romney and the Bush family bother with politics. They feel under-appreciated and victimised by the poor, damn them, who want the rich to pay taxes and prop up welfare and the like.

Some of the super rich, like Romney, decide they have to defend themselves against the howling masses by controlling the political system as well as the economic system. Romney's 47% comment to an audience of very rich donors said it all.

It's not as if they're too concerned with the rich paying taxes either. Wasn't John Kerry famed for moving his yacht to avoid high taxes? Is that not an example of the left-wing fantasy of making the rich "pay their fair share" meets the humdrum reality where the rich, regardless of party affiliation or supposed moral obligation, do all they can to avoid high tax jurisdictions?

Since when does anyone actually care about the wealth of the candidate? Even liberals had no trouble with a Kerry/Edwards ticket. Wealth just isn't a bad thing in American politics, nor should it be.
